What does it mean to play for Bruno United?

Bruno United is a founding member of the New England Premiership, a league formed in 2009 by the strongest clubs in the Northeast to create the best environment for player development.

Bruno United is committed to the development of players over the long term. This means that the club and its coaches prioritize building a solid foundation of skill, knowledge, and physical capacity over any single result. Development requires both determination and patience from coaches, parents, and the players themselves. Bruno United players consistently have success when they reach high school and college soccer because of the self-discipline and skill they learn at Bruno.

How often do teams practice and play?

All teams practice two times per week and play one to two games on the weekend during the outdoor seasons (fall and spring). Most teams play in three tournaments per year (the older teams play in four). Older teams travel to college showcase tournaments and play in the Rhode Island State Championships.

During the fall, the season for ages 8-14 runs from the end of August until November.

During the winter months, players work with their teams one day per week and train an additional day to improve skills, technique, and fitness. Younger teams compete in an indoor league.

In the spring, the outdoor season for ages 8-18 runs from March through June.

How do I know if my child should try out for Bruno United?

If your child has demonstrated both a commitment to improving skills and a love of the game on and off the playing field, Bruno United is a great opportunity. Parents should also be comfortable with the philosophy of the club and aware of the commitment that comes with playing premier soccer.

Bruno United selects its players in a series of tryouts held in June. Players can also try out during the season, depending on roster size and availability of space. Every player trying out is given a careful look by the coaching staff using objective criteria for evaluating the players. If you are interested in trying out for a Bruno team, please contact one of our coaching directors or send an email to info@brunounited.com.

Do players from Bruno United go on to play at the collegiate level?

Many Bruno United players have continued on to the collegiate level of soccer at Division I, Division II, and Division III schools. Bruno hosts an annual College Night to provide players and families information from college coaches, admissions officers, and financial aid professionals.
